Our School
The Annex School is a small Independent Special School which is registered with the DCSF and Ofsted Inspected. We have a fully qualified and experienced teaching staff including dedicated learning support assistants which enable a high teacher/student ratio.
The school is primarily for children who are currently living at our Children’s Home. These include children who for various reasons and because of their emotional and behavioral needs have been excluded from mainstream education and in some cases specialist EBD schools. Most children who attend The Annex School have a range of complex needs and no other provision is available.
Most students enter The Annex School achieving below or well below their actual. They may be several years behind for their chronological age. The majority of students have restricted literacy and numeracy skills and underdeveloped social skills. All students demonstrate low self esteem and values of self worth. Most students have Special Educational Needs, with a significant number having a statement of SEN.
